Countering Internet Throttling is Easier Than Ever

Internet Throttling

Ever since net neutrality has been removed, people are afraid of internet throttling. It was already doing a lot of damage, but now that there’s no force stopping internet service providers from using it, things are only going to get worse.

Net neutrality basically helped companies stay in line, but now that it’s gone, things will definitely get worse. The good news is that all hope is not lost as there are still a couple of ways to counter internet throttling. They might require some work on your behalf to be effective, but it’s better than using the internet at a slower speed. What these different methods are and how they can improve your online experience has been detailed.

VPNs

VPNs are quite underrated especially when it comes to internet throttling. People who even own VPNs don’t realize that they can counter the speed slowdowns through these solutions. Fault somewhat lies with the VPN marketing as well. Although it is a great feature, it usually ends up at the bottom of the pile. Other features are made more prominent.

It is all well and good, but that does not mean that one of the most significant features like countering internet throttling should not be highlighted. Things are changing since the repeal of net neutrality as VPN’s marketing departments are realizing that internet throttling is going to be a huge issue going forward. With the help of a VPN, this issue can be countered quite easily.

All you have to do is enable any VPN on your device, which in turn will switch your server and IP address to a new one. Only your original IP gets throttled, which means that with this new IP, you will get your regular speed back. It’s not really necessary to go with a paid VPN tool, as you can get this feature through free VPNs as well.

Proxy Websites

If you are unwilling to make use of VPNs, then there’s no problem. You can go to proxy websites. These sites, as the name suggests contain multiple proxy servers’ IP address. You just copy the addresses from the page and replace it with your current IP.

The impact will be the same as VPN, but with this method, you won’t have to download any software. You just have to visit a website, get the IP address, and paste it. It’s a simple and convenient process, but the problem with such IPs is that they are available for everyone around the globe.

There is be a security risk involved at all times. If the safety on the web is an important factor for you, then it would be better to just seek help from a VPN. However, if you do plan on using proxy sites, make sure to switch around different servers regularly.
